Day One: Anchorage
This is the day for arrival in Anchorage. We will also collect our rental motorcycles today so please be in Anchorage on the earliest possible flight, and we will meet everyone at the airport as you arrive. If you plan to get to Anchorage earlier than the 15th, please let us know. The Aerostich Tours welcome dinner will be near where we are staying. Afterward, we will spend an evening having fun in one of Alaska’s largest and most beautiful cities.

Day Three: Anchorage – (optional mileage, paved)
Today we will check the bikes out for maintenance and any preparation needed for the long ride to the Arctic Ocean. Optional riding routes around the area are a good way to spend the rest of the day.

Day Four: Anchorage to Talkeetna – (120 miles, all paved)
Visit the small town of Talkeetna. Although this is one of the shortest days, the beautiful countryside along the route is breathtaking. Weather is still unpredictable however, so be sure and have several layers and rainproof outerwear.

Friday, June 19, 2009
Day Five: Talkeetna to Fairbanks - (272 miles, all paved)
You will ride through the Alaskan mountain range and try our luck with the views of North America’s tallest peak: Mt. McKinley. Many times the actual peak is obscured by clouds, but the lush green wilderness in the park is so engaging you will still be glad you are there. Dinner plans to be announced. Nice lodging in Fairbanks.

Saturday, June 20, 2009
Day Six: Fairbanks to Coldfoot – (260 miles, all gravel roads)
Ride across the Arctic Circle today. Though not really a long riding day, there are some mining roads to explore in the Coldfoot area, which will keep everyone busy for hours! We will stay in Coldfoot, at a very unique lodge.

Sunday, June 21, 2009
Day Seven: Coldfoot to Deadhorse – (242 miles, all gravel roads)
Due to possible road conditions, this could be one of the longest riding days. Ride the most northerly road in North America, crossing the remote Brooks Range at Atigun Pass. Scenery is world-class, and the chance of seeing wildlife (from Grizzlies, Dall Sheep, Caribou, to Moose) is high. When we get to Deadhorse, there will still be time for you to swim in the Arctic Ocean by taking a bus tour that leaves from the hotel where we are staying!

- Deadhorse - The small industrial town which supports the oil exploration at Prudhoe Bay. It is located a few miles from Prudhoe Bay and the Arctic Ocean. To gain access to the ocean, one is required to take an authorized tour. (Security in the area is high due to terrorist threat to the oil infrastructure in Prudhoe Bay.) Bring a swim suit, and prepare to join the Polar Bear Club! To register for this separate tour, please let us know you would like to attend before May 15th.

Monday, June 22, 2009
Day Eight: Deadhorse to Yukon River Crossing – (363 miles, all gravel roads)
Ride south from the most northerly point on the road system in North America on the longest day of the trip. We’ll recross the remote Brooks Range at Atigun Pass. Scenery is world-class, and the chance of seeing more wildlife is very high. We will want to leave earlier than usual on this day in order to get to the River earlier.

Tuesday, June 23, 2009
Day Nine: Yukon River Crossing to Fairbanks – (138 miles, all gravel roads)
A shorter day to relax and enjoy the scenery, as make our way back south. Another pleasant evening in Fairbanks to prepare for an adventure tomorrow.

Wednesday, June 24, 2009
Day Ten: Fairbanks to Gracious House – (251 miles, all dirt roads)
Today is our day to ride the dirt! The Denali Highway offers dramatic sweeping views of the Alaska Range, with its looming peaks and scenic glaciers. Stay at the very unusual Gracious House. A wonderful spaghetti dinner will be served at the hotel.

Thursday, June 25, 2009
Day Eleven: Gracious House to Anchorage - (262 miles, 50 dirt / 212 paved)
The Denali Highway: superb views of the Alaska Range from the south and another chance to see Mt. McKinley from the Denali and Parks Highways. Farewell dinner out on the town in Anchorage.
